If West Virginia is your vacation destination, then the Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad’s MOUNTAIN RAIL ADVENTURES is your Rail Destination and, by far, the perfect way to explore the most remote wilderness regions of this great Mountain State!

The Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad operates historic steam-driven locomotives and classic, diesel-powered vintage passenger trains (some climate controlled) that depart the historic depots of Elkins, Durbin and Cass, April through December. Trips range from daylong excursions into the Monongahela National Forest to shorter sight-seeing trips along the banks of the Greenbrier, Tygarts Valley and Shaver’s Fork rivers. From Cass, enjoy an excursion to the top of the second highest mountain in the state.

Chug along the banks of the Greenbrier River onboard the DURBIN ROCKET and/or explore the history of a bygone logging era aboard the CASS SCENIC RAILROAD, powered by the largest fleet of Shay locomotives in the world!  All of these steam-powered locomotives are unique in their own right, bringing to life the history of our region.

Our MOUNTAIN RAIL ADVENTURES range from all-day epic rail excursions on the CHEAT MOUNTAIN SALAMANDER to half-day trips on the climate-controlled, comfortable  NEW TYGART FLYER and MOUNTAIN EXPLORER DINNER TRAIN. For the ultimate in remote adventure, try our overnight camping adventures in the Durbin Rocket’s CASTAWAY CABOOSE and Cass Scenic Railroad’s BALD KNOB CABOOSE.

New for 2015!
