Learn about the Appalachian leek everyone calls “Little Stinker”!

10:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. Local food vendors with scrumptious ramp dishes as well as craft and artisan vendors set up in the town square. Live music throughout the day. Attendees vote for their favorite ramp dish. One-hour train trips on the New Tygart Flyer.

One-of-a-kind Star Gazing event for 2014!

Board the Cheat Mountain Salamander at Cheat Bridge for a night-time excursion into the depths of the wilderness to study the stars. Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) staff will guide you through the night-time sky via telescopes. Campfire and s’mores! Bring a camping chair, flashlight and jacket for this outdoor excursion.

A trip to Old Spruce to watch Steam and Diesel vie for the position of “Most Powerful Mountain Climbing” Train in West Virginia! The Cheat Mountain Salamander meets up with the Cass Scenic Railroad at Old Spruce to compete in the race of the year!

In celebration of West Virginia’s 150th Birthday, this all-day event featuring a BBQ and live entertainment will be one of our best. Surprises in store!

Choose your date, car, seats and complete the reservation. Your eTickets will be emailed to you. Should you decide to change your departure time, clear your browser cache first. Your eTickets will be emailed to you in one email and will be in a zip format. Just click twice to open and print all your tickets. (Oh, and if you don’t see your tickets, check your spam box.)

Boarding:

Elkins boarding area is located at the Depot on 315 Railroad Avenue in the Downtown area. The ticket office is open 1.5 hours prior to departure and passengers should plan to arrive at least 45-60 minutes prior to departure. Don’t forget your eTickets. If you do forget your eTicket, come to our ticket window in the Railroad Depot and we can print your ticket(s) for you. It’s a good idea to go to the ticket window and pre-board. If you have a smart device and can access your email, you may present your eTicket PDF at the ticket window for pre-boarding.

Polar Express Cancellation Policy:

Tickets are non-refundable 48 hours after booking. If notice of cancellation is made within 48 hours of booking, a 10% cancellation fee will be charged for any refund.
