Two new events come to DGVR in 2019

ELKINS, W.Va. — As the 2019 train season ramps up in April 2019, there are two new venues to keep an eye on this year. First, the Alpine School of Virtue & Magic will take place in Elkins April 20 onboard the Mystic Flyer. This multi-venue attraction begins at the Elkins Depot with an enchanted adventure in search of your own inner magic. Onboard extravagances include mini-classes from Eccentric Scholars of the Alpine Academy of Virtue and Magic, time travel, and other Arcane Arts. Enjoy a stroll through the Ethereal Market in Trillium. Upon returning to Elkins, the event relocates to the nearby Trillium Castle for a Thematic Menu and Sorting Ceremony. This family-fun adventure promotes moral character, confidence, and creativity through a series of interactive experiences. It will take place in Elkins on April 30 and is $109.00/person.

In August, the Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad will partner with Big Timber Brewing of Elkins for West Virginia’s first-ever craft beer train on August 3. The Bluegrass & Brews train features a 90-minute train ride along the Tygart Flyer where you’ll be treated to Big Timber’s three most popular local brews: the Logger Lager Pilsner, the Porter, and its IPA. Big Timber representatives will be onboard to discuss the beer-making process and share with you the different hops and ingredients used to produce these West Virginia originals. In-between brews, you’ll unwind with local bluegrass talent as our train rolls through the forests along the Tygart River. You must 21+ years of age to attend this event train. Price includes 90-minute train ride, onboard entertainment and light food, and three beers. ticket price is $78.00/person. A local brewery tour will be held after our train returns to the Elkins Depot for those interested in purchasing additional Big Timber products. Brewery tours are an additional $10.
