TRAIN RIDES

The “Titans of Logging” Photography Weekend will take place on May 2-3, 2026. Photographers and videographers will have exclusive access to remote, scenic locations, with multiple runbys and carefully planned photo opportunities throughout the weekend.

Join Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad for a first of its kind train ride along the Cass to Durbin Line! This historic passenger excursion will feature all three major geared locomotive types, the Shay, Heisler and Climax as they work in tandem pulling the train to Durbin. That’s right, not one, but THREE steam locomotives.

Learn about this unique indigenous Appalachian leek while enjoying local arts, crafts and live music. Local food vendors show off scrumptious ramp dishes! While enjoying the festival, enjoy one of our short 1-hour train trips! This is a local favorite!

This approximately 4-hour evening train ride will depart the Elkins depot at 5pm and travel to the Golden Rule Building in Belington where vendors, activities, live music, and historical fun await. This is a one night only event scheduled for June 19, 2026!

Passenger service returns to ghost town of Spruce. Once known as the the highest and coldest incorporated town east of the Mississippi, accessible only by rail, Spruce has become a popular destination for those wanting to experience the notorious ghost town. A sack lunch is included in the ticket price.

A unique festival of steam for all ages! Attendees will have the opportunity to view a variety of our operable steam locomotives from the Cass parking lot as they move down the rails. A variety of arts & crafts, railroadiana and food vendors will be set up in the parking lot.

WILD WEST WEEKEND returns July 31, August 1st and 2nd, 2026! Enjoy this opportunity to ride a steam-powered excursion from Cass to Durbin and return with a cast of Western characters who take over the train.

As part of the Belington “Old Fashioned Days” celebration, DGVR and the Belington Revitalization Committee are thrilled to announce a special train ride has been arranged. On 9/18/26 and 9/19/26, the train will depart from the Golden Rule Building at 6pm, travel to Tygart Junction, and then return.

On October 2 and 3, 2026, this special fall foliage excursion will depart from the Historic Golden Rule Building in Belington, WV and follow the Tygart River on through Elkins, continuing along the Shavers Fork of the Cheat River amidst the lush canopies of the Mon National Forest.

Enjoy a ride on the Cass Scenic Railroad this holiday season during Christmas at Cass! The steam powered journey will depart the Cass depot and travel along the scenic Greenbrier River. This excursion will last approximately 60 to 75 minutes and feature decorated & heated coaches.

Visit Durbin and drift away in complete solitude onboard the Castaway Caboose! We’ve restored two original Wabash Railroad cabooses into comfortable efficiency suites on rails! Your overnight package includes a round-trip river ride where you will be “cast away” at one of two remote settings.

Visit Cass and drift away in complete solitude onboard the Cass Camp Car! Your overnight package includes a round-trip river ride where you will be spotted at a remote camp location along the beautiful, flowing waters of the Greenbrier River.
