Join us May 2–3 for the “Titans of Logging” Photography Weekend!

For the first time ever, this highly anticipated event will feature all three geared locomotive types, Climax, Heisler, and Shay—working together on the Cass Scenic Railroad and Greenbrier River lines.

Photographers and videographers will have exclusive access to remote, scenic locations, with multiple runbys and carefully planned photo opportunities throughout the weekend.

Day 1 – Cass to Bald Knob

We’ll take on the legendary grades of Cass Hill, climbing 2,390 feet from Cass (Elev. 2,452 ft) to Bald Knob (Elev. 4,842 ft) atop Back Allegheny Mountain, the second-highest point in West Virginia.

The day begins with the iconic three-locomotive race, featuring Climax No. 9, Heisler No. 6, and a Shay—together in steam for the very first time at Cass. From there, we’ll depart for Bald Knob with a log train and passenger train, making multiple scenic runby stops along the way.
After dark, the evening concludes with a traditional night photo session.

Day 2 – Cass to Durbin

Day two follows the Cass–Durbin line alongside the picturesque Greenbrier River.

A Climax, Heisler, and Shay triple-header will lead a consist of freight cars, a passenger car, and a caboose, with stops at farms and scenic river locations en route to Durbin.

📸 An unforgettable weekend of geared steam, dramatic scenery, and rare photo opportunities—don’t miss it.
