Starting January 18th and continuing every other Sunday through March 1st, this special winter excursion will depart from the Historic Golden Rule Building in Belington, WV. From the comfort of our vintage rail coaches, take a scenic train ride through the Tygart River Gorge.

This special weekend will feature Shay and Heisler locomotives pulling vintage freight trains throughout the weekend. Attendees will have the opportunity to capture photos and video recordings from remote, scenic locations along the Cass Scenic Railroad and Greenbrier River lines. Night photography session included!

WILD WEST WEEKEND returns July 31, August 1st and 2nd, 2026! Enjoy this opportunity to ride a steam-powered excursion from Cass to Durbin and return with a cast of Western characters who take over the train.

Join us on May 3 and 4th for a two-day photography on the Cass Scenic Railroad. Our photo special will be limited to just 13 photographers, allowing for additional photo locations and unique scenes not possible with a larger group.

Learn about this unique indigenous Appalachian leek while enjoying local arts, crafts and live music. Local food vendors show off scrumptious ramp dishes! While enjoying the festival, enjoy one of our short 1-hour train trips! This is a local favorite!

A unique festival of steam for all ages! Attendees will have the opportunity to view a variety of our operable steam locomotives from the Cass parking lot as they move down the rails. A variety of arts & crafts, railroadiana and food vendors will be set up in the parking lot.

Passenger service returns to ghost town of Spruce. Once known as the the highest and coldest incorporated town east of the Mississippi, accessible only by rail, Spruce has become a popular destination for those wanting to experience the notorious ghost town. A sack lunch is included in the ticket price.

The Greenbrier Express (GBX) train departs from the restored, historically important town of Cass and closely follows the clear, free-flowing Greenbrier River to the small mountain village of Durbin. All ticketholders will be served a cold cut lunch. Lunch is included in the ticket price.

Enjoy a ride on the Cass Scenic Railroad this holiday season during Christmas at Cass! The steam powered journey will depart the Cass depot and travel along the scenic Greenbrier River. This excursion will last approximately 60 to 75 minutes and feature decorated & heated coaches.

Join us on a rail adventure to help us figure out Whodunit in an exciting murder mystery! While the mystery unfolds, you’ll also be enjoying heavy hors d’oeuvres provided by the Railyard Restaurant in Elkins, WV and wine tastings provided by Lambert’s Winery of Weston! The train travels along the same route as the New Tygart Flyer.

This wilderness excursion departs from Elkins and features mountain grades, an “S” curve tunnel, a high bridge and miles of unspoiled mountain views. Vintage diesel-powered locomotives climb along the cascading Shavers Fork of the Cheat River to the High Falls of Cheat. Experience this breathtaking trip to Whittaker Station in Cass, WV! Climb the lower slopes of Cheat Mountain along picturesque Leatherbark Creek. Stop at Whittaker Station, surrounded by green meadows and scenic countryside. This train ride is historic, authentic and a spectacular trip to the past!

Take a journey to the third highest point in West Virginia! The steep climb of 2,390 vertical feet from Cass to Bald Knob (Elev. 4,842’) on Back Allegheny Mountain gives passengers breathtaking, panoramic vistas and a climate with plants and animals typically found in the far north. A sack lunch is included in the ticket price.

Visit Durbin and drift away in complete solitude onboard the Castaway Caboose! We’ve restored two original Wabash Railroad cabooses into comfortable efficiency suites on rails! Your overnight package includes a round-trip river ride where you will be “cast away” at one of two remote settings.
